What is a difference between a core and a core-thread?

A core is a part of the CPU that can act very similar to having multiple processors in your computer. More cores help with multitasking and programs designed to use more than one core. A thread is the communications between the cores, intel’s hyperthreading enables two connections per core, resulting in twice as many logical cores. Generally hyperthreading CPUs show about a 20% performance increase in programs that can utilize hyperthreading.
