merging hashes

March 14, 2011

Merging hashes could be a useful thing to do in case you want to override certain key / value pairs. Especially when those are options that you are holding that you want to change later.

h1 = { "a" => 100, "b" => 200 }
h2 = { "b" => 254, "c" => 300 }
h1.merge(h2)   #=> {"a"=>100, "b"=>254, "c"=>300}
