Hash keys

December 22, 2010

As per ruby, a hash can have a key which can be any object.

Hence

{:a => ‘hello’} is not the same as {‘a’ => ‘hello’}

However, params is a special hash in which

params = {‘a’ => ‘hello’ }

then

params[‘a’] #=>  ‘hello’

params[:a] #=> ‘hello’
